BIOGRAPHY

BJ FitzGerald is one of the premier guitarists out of Albany, New York, with over 15 years performance experience in virtually every genre of music from hip-hop to country to jazz to rock. He's been described as a "show-stealer" by Okayplayer.com (run by ?uestlove) with "versatility and big ears" (Nippertown.com).

Classically trained on trumpet and a local music teacher, BJ received his Bachelor's in Music Education from The College of Saint Rose, where he also took lessons from reknowned jazz guitarist Jack Fragomeni. He also received a Master's in Music Technology where he learned the art of recording engineering, becoming a certified Pro Tools operator.

BJ has performed with jazz greats Frank Foster (who led the Count Basie Big Band for many years), Byron Stripling (who played Louie Armstrong in the traveling musical "Satchmo"), 'Blue' Lou Marini of Blues Brothers fame, and Randy Brecker. He's also performed on the same stage as Tower of Power, Naughty By Nature, Blake Shelton, Shontelle, Josh Turner, Mr. Cheeks (from the Lost Boyz), The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Young MC among others.

As a permanently certified New York State music educator, BJ has many skills, including recording engineering, web and graphic design, and a wide knowledge of multiple software platforms which has led him to create logos for businesses and bands, web design for nationally recognized sites and given him the opportunity to instruct at the college level.
